Vanderbilt University School of Medicine’s annual Shade Tree Trot 5K, a long-standing tradition of fundraising, has a new location this year.

The 5K, which raises funds for the Shade Tree Clinic run by medical and nursing students, will be held at Percy Warner Park on Saturday, April 8th.

The trot was moved from campus due to construction. This year’s race will be held at Vaughn’s Creek Cross Country Course at Percy Warner Park.

Located about eight miles southwest of campus, the course is popular with many locals and is home to the Commodore Classic and Belmont Opener each fall.

Leashed pets are allowed on the course, but the grounds are unsuitable for strollers. This venue is a true cross-country course with a pure grass running surface and rolling hills.

Race starts at 8:30am, activities and on-site registration begin at 7:00am. Those interested can register here.

The annual 5K race is for everyone. Whether a competitive or casual runner, all racers will help ensure Shade Tree Clinic is able to provide patients with the necessary services and important training opportunities for the next generation of healthcare providers.

If you have any questions about the course, contact race co-director Harrison Thomas at harris-on.thomas@vanderbilt.edu.
