Owner of Arkansas tree service dies after falling 20 feet while helping tornado cleanup

The owner of a tree care business in Arkansas died last month after falling about 20 feet from a bucket truck while clearing a tornado in Cammack Village, police confirmed Monday.

Michael Parker, 65, died April 28 while attempting to lift a tree stump from the backyard of a home on Sunset Drive, Cammack Village police report said.

John Parker, Michael’s son, who worked with his father, told police that Michael was in the boom truck’s bucket when the rope tied around the tree stump snapped, throwing his father out of the bucket onto the ground became.

Police reported that officers observed the extended bucket about 20 feet in the air and that the rope appeared to have snapped as the ends were frayed.

Police said a team from the Little Rock Fire Department was on site when they arrived to provide medical assistance. Later, the emergency services arrived and declared Michael dead at the scene of the accident, it said.

Michael was the owner of Parker Tree Service – a business that his family says he started after a tornado hit Carlisle a few years ago.
