One person is dead after falling from a tree in Oro-Medonte, Ontario, police said.

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) said Wednesday that emergency responders were dispatched to a home on Huronwoods Drive just after 1 p.m.

According to the police, an arborist fell about 15 meters from a tree.

Officials said the arborist, a 45-year-old man from Springwater Township, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The Ontario Department of Labor, OPP Forensic Identification Services and the Coroner have been contacted and are investigating.

The Department of Labor said the man was employed by Ansanna Tree Services.

“Our thoughts are with the family, friends and colleagues of this worker,” the ministry said in a statement.

An inspector from the ministry was tasked with investigating the cause of the incident.
