Macerich’s Fashion Outlets of Chicago, 5220 Fashion Outlets Way in Rosemont, will celebrate Earth Month this April by encouraging shoppers to commit to choosing reusable bags for all their shopping needs. From April 1st through April 30th, Macerich has committed to planting a tree through One Tree Planted for each shopper who commits to making the switch to reusable bags.

Ways to contribute include in person at the deposit wall near Concierge Services on Level One of the mall, scanning the QR code located on digital signage throughout the mall, or by following @FashionChicago on Instagram follow and contribute digitally.

The first 500 shoppers to show their pledge at concierge service will receive a limited edition Fashion Outlets of Chicago 10th Anniversary tote bag with an exclusive design based on “zip me up” (2022) by newest member Candida Alvarez from THE COLLECTION, fashion outlets from Chicago’s diverse contemporary art program. For more information on the pledge, visit www.fashionoutletsofchicago.com/Events/Details/572516.

“Fashion Outlets of Chicago and Macerich have long made sustainability a pillar of our business,” said Senior Marketing Manager Katie Walsh. “It is incredibly important to us to protect and preserve the future of the planet and to encourage Fashion Outlets employees, customers, retailers and partners to do their part for our environment and the local community.”

Each reusable bag can eliminate hundreds of single-use plastic or paper bags. Earthday.org estimates that one person who chooses a reusable bag saves an average of 307 disposable bags per year.

Fashion Outlets of Chicago is committed to creating a healthy environment for its employees, tenants, guests and communities and to preserving the environment for future generations. The 530,000-square-foot mall uses energy-saving, water-saving and recycling-aligned processes to optimize operational efficiencies and solidify its place as an environmentally friendly property. Fashion Outlets also fully integrates LED light bulbs, a building management

System, electric vehicle charging stations, advanced water fittings and cardboard recycling to reduce waste and reduce carbon footprint.
