The polling station has been moved to 102 Windy Lane and will not be moved again. It stays open until 9:30 p.m

In a news conference, Tom Moczynski, deputy chief of the Green County Sheriff’s Office, said an investigation into a disturbance in the 100 block of Hotel Street began around 7:10 a.m.

Moczynski said Paul Douglas, 75, of Brooklyn, was arrested around 9:35 a.m. in Oregon on a pending charge of disorderly conduct with guns. The sheriff’s office said the incident stemmed from a “dispute over the removal of a tree.”

Moczynski said the disturbance was between two people and no one was hurt.

Downtown Village of Brooklyn begins reopening.

Moczynski said the investigation into the incident is still ongoing.

BROOKLYN (WKOW) — The village of Brooklyn is relocating a polling station for the spring primary.

In a Facebook post, the village said the polling station would be moved from North Rutland Avenue due to a “downtown situation.”

Dane County District Clerk Scott McDonell said the move was due to “an ongoing public safety threat preventing access to the polling station.”

The Dane County Sheriff has restricted access to the site for safety reasons.
The village will seek a court order to extend voting times for those voters who were denied entry during the parade. We assume that the new polling station will be set up and operational by 9:30 a.m

The polling station will be moved to the Public Works Building at 102 Windy Lane. The village says the new polling station will be set up by 9 a.m. and officials are working to extend voting time.

Green County Sheriff Jeff Skatrud said people should avoid traveling through the village for now.

A 27 News team on the ground saw Dane and Green Counties Sheriff’s officials with guns drawn near the original polling station on North Rutland Avenue. They saw about 15 to 20 police vehicles and an armored vehicle.

Three square blocks in the downtown area are closed, including the polling station on Hotel Street. McDonnell said the Dane County Sheriff’s Office is restricting access “for security reasons.”

Skatrud said there were no reported injuries to community members or law enforcement.

Due to the current situation, Heart of Brooklyn is currently on secure hold. This means that students and staff are in the building with locked doors.

The facility confirms that everyone is safe and that 4K and childcare will continue as usual. The facility remains in a safe condition until law enforcement advises them the incident has been resolved.
