CHESAPEAKE, Va. — Dollar Tree plans to lay off about 90 employees at its Chesapeake headquarters, a company spokesman told 13News Now.
The spokesman cited the establishment of an outsourced model for its enterprise contact center as the reason for the layoffs, saying that “less than 90” positions would be eliminated in the process.
According to the Virginia Employment Commission (VEC), the company reported its layoff notice on April 19 with an effective date of June 23.
Dollar Tree’s spokesman told 13News Now that the company is providing transitional support for affected employees, including severance payments and outplacement services.
