YMCA Yoga in the library

The Missoula Public Library is excited to partner with the Missoula Family YMCA to offer free yoga in the library! Focus on essential yoga postures, alignment principles, and breathing techniques that help balance, strengthen, and stretch the body. This course is recommended for those who want to strengthen the fundamentals of their practice or simply want continued practice consistent with their level of strength, balance and flexibility. Join us on May 21 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:15 p.m. in Cooper Room A on Level 4 for this program. The number of participants is limited to 25. This course is first come, first served. Participants must register on the day of the course; The registration list for the courses will be posted in front of Cooper Room A on level 4 until 12:30 p.m. Participants are required to sign a liability waiver prior to class by downloading and printing it or signing a copy provided before class begins. Frenchtown Library: World Cinema

Come to the Frenchtown High School Auditorium for an evening of world cinema. On May 22nd, from 7pm to 10pm, the library is showing “Taste of Cherry” directed by Abbas Kiarostami. This film is presented in Persian/Farsi with English subtitles. The Frenchtown Library is located at Frenchtown High School at 17620 Frontage Road.

Read with therapy dogs

Certified therapy dogs are just waiting for your child to read them a book at the Missoula Public Library. Your child can read a favorite book from home or choose one of the many picture books from our range. This program takes place on May 23rd from 3:30pm to 4:30pm in the Imaginarium on the second level of the library and is ideal for hesitant readers or children who just love dogs.

Organize your genealogy research webinar

Would you like to know more about your family history? Join us on May 24 from 12-1:30 p.m. in Cooper Room A on level four of the library for a Legacy Family Tree webinar on Organizing Your Genealogy Research, presented by Billie Fogarty.

Families First Learning Lab: Family fun night at the library

On May 24 from 5-7 p.m. at the Imaginarium on the second level of the library, the Families First Learning Lab is offering an evening of parent-led activities for families to spend time together and encourage development.

MakerSpace: Tinkercad Workshop – Making Stencils

On May 24th from 6pm to 7:30pm, come to the Makerspace on the first level of the library to design and 3D print a stencil. All ages are invited to learn how to easily create a 3D object file using Tinkercad 3D design software. Your finished design is then 3D printed using the Makerspace’s 3D printers. This event is free and no prior knowledge is required.

Wednesdays with the mayor

All are invited to join Mayor Jordan Hess on May 24 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. on Level 4 of the Library in Cooper Room B for one-on-one discussions of current affairs and answers to your questions on all things city government to meet Missoula broadcast journalist Dennis Bragg will moderate. During the meeting, you can call us at 406-552-6002 with any questions. Montana Racial Equity Project Book Club

The Missoula Public Library sponsors the Montana Racial Equity Project book club in Missoula. On May 24th, from 6pm to 7:30pm, the group will discuss “The Mountains Sing” by Nguyen Phan Que Mai in the Ellingson Room on the third level of the library. Depending on availability, you may be able to reserve book club titles through the library’s online catalog, but you will often need to purchase your own copy. Local bookstores Fact & Fiction in Missoula ( and Chapter One Bookstore in Hamilton ( sell book club selections at a discount to attendees.

Tech Connect: Tech Time @ MPL

Meet with a Missoula Public Library representative during our technical hotline for one-on-one assistance with basic technology issues and library services. Come to the Ellingson Room on Level 3 on May 27 from 10:30am to 12:00pm and bring your own device or use a library laptop. No appointment required, first come, first served.

Missoula Public Library Notice of Holiday Closures

The Missoula Public Library and its branches will be closed on May 28th and 29th for Memorial Day.
