An Oklahoma family who were allegedly scammed by a roofer got a new roof this morning thanks to the generosity of others.
This community comes together when the need arises. News 9 had several roofers after our story aired last month. They wanted to help Kasey Ball and her family.
Now they have a safe place to come home to.
“He ended up stealing our money and didn’t do the roof, so here we are, $12,000, no work done, our roof is leaking, our garage is about to collapse,” Ball said.
Kasey waited more than a year for the work she paid for to be completed. Finally, all she got was silence.
“It would have resulted in us losing that house because we couldn’t afford it,” Ball said.
So Kasey turned to News 9.
“If you hadn’t taken the time to come out and talk to me and hear my story and just spread the word out there, we’d still be in the same shoes as we were a year ago,” Ball said.
Now she doesn’t have to worry because after our story aired, Cory Belter and ICON Roofing performed.
“Right now they’re tearing down the old roof that’s been on the garage for 20 years and tearing through 6 layers of the old roof,” Belter said.
Because it took so long to finish the roof, the project is an even greater burden.
“I realized there was a lot more damage to the house than we originally saw. The garage, the roof, some gutters,” Belter said.
But Brad Bates said they were up to the challenge.
“We’re not just doing it, we’re going to do it right. It may take two days instead of one,” Bates said.
And to Kasey, it means the world.
