If you know someone who needs work on their shingle roof, there is an opportunity for them to get it for free.
There’s still time to nominate someone for the annual Two Rivers Roofing Ltd. roof draw. to nominate. The closing date for entries is June 15th.
Details can be found on the company’s Facebook page, but there are some rules that must be followed, said co-owner Jackie Klotz. These include that a person cannot nominate themselves, only properties in Grand Forks and Christina Lake are considered, and current clapboards must be asphalt.
The candidate must also be the owner of the property where the roof is to be replaced.
“We want to give back to the community all the support that they have given us in the five years of our existence,” said Klotz.
“It could be someone like a family who needs a new roof but can’t afford it on their own, or an elderly person who can’t do the work themselves. We ask people to think of someone they know who may need a new roof.”
Klotz explained that they only make asphalt shingles because they have those materials available for this raffle. Cedar, flat and metal roofs do not qualify.
Sponsored by the Boundary Home Building Center and IKO Industries, the prize draw includes all costs associated with the removal of the old roof, garbage disposal, any necessary plywood repairs, and labor and materials to install the new roof.
Nominations must include the individual’s name and address, a brief description of why that individual deserves a new roof, the nominator’s name, and contact information.
After the deadline, five nominations will be shortlisted, their roofs rated and a winner chosen. The nominee and the winner will be contacted directly and their names will be published on the company’s Facebook page and published in the Official Gazette.
