MJB Plumbing recently expanded into Central Mass.
SHREWSBURY – Michael Bluyus is a busy plumber and gas fitter. He has been a licensed plumber since 2009 and founded his business, MJB Plumbing, in 2012. Originally based in Newton, Bluyus recently expanded into central Massachusetts.
“I started working with property management companies in Boston and word got around. Now I serve the MetroWest and Shrewsbury areas as well,” said Bluyus.
In addition to large property management companies, MJB Plumbing serves the needs of individual homeowners. This includes sanitary and hot water preparation for single and multi-family houses through to larger residential and condominiums.
“A lot of property management companies hire me to do repairs and installations on their units,” Bluyus said. “I do residential and commercial plumbing and gas services from Boston to central Massachusetts.”
He recently replaced the hot water circulating pumps for the 120 units at the Kenmore Tower in Back Bay.
“Each unit received new mechanical service water pumps. These were special pumps that took three months to procure,” Bluyus said.
Although it has taken some time to source the pumps for this particular job, Bluyus has not encountered any difficulties related to supply chain constraints.
“A lot of what we use every day is now readily available,” Bluyus said. “The main problem these days is that prices have gone up like everywhere else. It affects the pricing of our jobs.”
Despite device price increases, Bluyus services are in high demand.
“Right now I’m replacing a lot of water heaters. I also volunteer for the plumbing work on kitchen renovations and bathroom remodels,” Bluyus said. “I don’t work on forced air heaters; it is all gas and hot water heating and plumbing.”
As a sole proprietor of MJB Plumbing, Bluyus’ days are busy. He can keep up with demand and has a part-time student to help handle his customer load.
“I hired this young man to help me meet my customers’ demands. This is a physical and technical trade and it’s doing very well,” said Bluyus. “This experience will give him a great jumpstart in his career before he even graduates from high school.”
With years of experience, Bluyus finds he has the knowledge and creativity to meet the many challenges of the plumbing and gas installation industry.
“A challenge is nothing more than an opportunity to present a solution,” said Bluyus.
