23-Year-Old Appliance Repair Tech Compared To Chris Stapleton After Impressive Audition On ‘American Idol’

Warren Peayan appliance repair technician from Bamberg, South Carolina, is hoping to be the next American Idol, and if his audition is any indication, he might have a chance.

In addition to being an appliance repairman, Peay also leads services at his local church, which he says allows him to grow as a musician. He also admitted that he is very grateful for the opportunity to show off his vocal skills on Idol.

“For me, getting on ‘American Idol’ really feels like this is a game changer for me,” Peay shared prior to his audition. “I want to get out and play as much as possible [and] I want to make a career out of it. I think my church is very proud that I’m leaving and I’m so glad to have that support behind me.”

The 23-year-old, who is also a keen duck hunter, appeared before American Idol judges Luke Bryan, Katy Perry and Lionel Richie and attempted a ticket to Hollywood with a country cover of Zach Williams’ song “To The Table.” from 2016.

Just before his performance, Peay joked, “I’m a Maytag man.”

Perry said what everyone seemed to be thinking when she told him: “I thought you were Chris Stapleton’s brother.”

Peay admitted, “I got a lot of it.”

For his performance, Peay showcased his vocals while strumming an acoustic guitar. The judges bobbed their heads and talked in the middle of his audition.

“His voice cuts through,” Bryan said.

“FM radio right here!” Richie added, confirming that Peay’s vocals are radio-ready.

Once Perry threw an arm in the air.

He earned a standing ovation when Luke Bryan announced, “Well, that was badass.”

“A Christian Chris Stapleton. Warren Woo,” Perry gushed. “You walked through that door and I was like, ‘Please God, please God, answer our prayers, God. This guy looks good. Please let him play the part and you play the damn part.

Perry added: “You are authentic, authentic!

“I’m definitely trying,” Peay said in response to the “Fireworks” singer.

“You know, look, I like this song a lot. Just because you love the Lord doesn’t mean you won’t get angry. So I have to listen to that too. I want to hear some of that coupled with that texture in the voice. courting! That’s how you get rid of that anger when you sing about it.”

American Idol judges say Warren Peay is top 10 material

“Warren, I’m going to make this very short, it’s about this top 10 route that I’ve ever heard of in my entire life,” Richie said, before his fellow Idol judges asked, “Are you saying he’s Top 10 material is? ?”

“I’m telling you he’s strong and in the top 10,” Richie replied, with Bryan and Perry agreeing.

“You’re going to shake this thing up,” Bryan told him.

After praising Warren Peay’s Idol audition, Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan voted. The constant earned three “yes” and advanced to Hollywood Week.

“What an incredible experience! Tonight I performed for the Idol judges and got the golden ticket to Hollywood!” Peay wrote on Instagram. “Praise God for this amazing opportunity and a big thank you to everyone who has supported me in starting this journey. be blessed!”

Additionally, Peay’s audition caused a stir on social media as many Idol viewers took to different platforms to praise the contestant.

“@warrenpeaymusic stopped me in my tracks and steered me into his voice. Had to watch it multiple times. The best I’ve ever heard! Got my vote #godfirst #AmericanIdol winner!!!” One viewer wrote, while another added: “Warren really reminds me of @ChrisStapleton. I like his voice.”

Other Idol fans took to social media to rave about Peay’s audition, saying, “Definitely top 10. Honestly, he could go all the way” and “@warrenpeaymusic made me cry!!! He has so much soul ❤️❤️❤️… Might definitely win this thing.”
